  • An earthquake of 5.5 M (4.7 as reported by the National Institute of Civil Defense - INDECI) at a depth of 10 km occurred in southern Peru on 3 June at 1.49 UTC (2 June at 20.49 local time). The epicentre was located in the Maca District (Caylloma Province, Arequipa Department) approximately 9 km south-east of Maca Town and 80 km north-north west of Arequipa City.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that 5,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 9,000 to strong shaking. At least  seven aftershocks with magnitude between 3.6 M and 4.5 M have been recorded in the area as registered by national authorities.
  • According to INDECI, 26 houses have been affected as well as four public buildings across six Districts of Caylloma Province, no casualties have been reported.
