  • A strong earthquake of 6.2 M at a depth of 10 km occurred in the Sea of Marmara (Türkiye) on 23 April at 9.49 UTC (12.49 local time). The epicentre was located offshore close to the coast (approximately 23,21 kmv south-west) of the Greater Istanbul Metropolitan Area, north-western Türkiye. Four aftershocks from 4.0 M to 5.0 M have been recorded in the area on the same day as the main event.
  • Media report, as of 24 April, 236 injured people, most of them slightly injured due to panic attacks. In addition, media also report 12 evacuated buildings. As of 24 April, there are no reports of fatalities.
