  • A 5.5 M earthquake occurred in Xinlong county, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, Southwest China, on 9 October at 05.17 (UTC) (13.17 local time). The epicentre was located 15 km northwest of Tongxiaoxiang and 210 km north of Daocheng, China.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 5,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 3,000 people to strong shaking.
  • According to media, there are no immediate reports of casualties and damage.
