Storm Diomedes, Greece, January 2022Severe weather, referred to as Storm Diomedes, brought strong winds, heavy snowfall and heavy rain over northern and central parts of Greece from 11 January 2022. As of 11 January the Greek Fire Service had responded to 196 calls for assistance, mostly for wind damage. Teams also carried out water pumping and some rescues and evacuations in areas of Makrychori, Sykourio, Omolio Larissa and Farsala in Thessaly Region. Water pumping was also required in Halkidiki and Veria of Central Macedonia. Media report two people died in floods near Serres City in Visaltia Municipality in Central Macedonia Region, while another fatality occurred in Karditsa City in Thessaly region.Mon 17 Jan 2022FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
