  • Since mid-September, floods caused by heavy rainfall and river overflow have been affecting south-eastern Australia, resulting in casualties and damage. 
  • According to media reports, two people died in Victoria, and two others in New South Wales. In Victoria, up to 85% of the houses in Rochester Town have been flooded by the overflow of the Campaspe River, while Kerang Town has been isolated by floods. In New South Wales, several regions have been subjected to multiple flooding events in 2022, and the national government has declared a natural disaster for 31 communities in the state. 
  • Evacuation orders have been issued for thousands of people in central New South Wales, and north-central Victoria, as houses and road sections have been flooded. Several rivers across south-east Australia have reached a major flooding level.
  • On 12 October, the European Commission's Copernicus Emergency Management Service has been activated in rapid mapping mode () to provide satellite maps for the areas affected by floods in New South Wales.
  • On 19-20 October, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast over most of New South Wales and northern Victoria State.

Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, Australia, Mid-October 2022State Emergency Services (SES) in the state of Victoria, Australia issued evacuation orders for Seymour (197 properties under threat), Rochester (200 properties under threat) and Carisbrook (population 1,100) on 13 October 2022. Heavy rain had caused flash flooding and rivers to rise. SES received over 2000 calls for assistance and carried out 55 flood rescues.
