  • Heavy rainfall continues to affect western and central Indonesia (in particular northern Sumatra Island, western Java Island and northern Sulawesi Island) since 24 January, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as of 27 January, one person died, around 3,000 people have been evacuated and a total of approximately 45,000 affected across the Aceh Tamiang Regency (Aceh Province, northern Sumatra).
  • In addition, the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports more than 40 evacuated people, 18 damaged houses, two damaged bridges and a total of over 1,000 affected people in the Sangihe Islands Regency (North Sulawesi Province). More than 6,100 people have been affected  across the Cirebon Regency (West Java Province), due to floods.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over the whole country.

  • Heavy rainfall affected the Manado City area (North Sulawesi Province, norhern-central Indonesia) on 27 January, triggering landslides, and causing floods that resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), one person has died and dozens have been affected. More than 30 houses located in six Districts have been hit by widespread landslides and dozens of homes have been flooded in five sub-districts following the overflow of the Tondanao River.
  • The Manado City Government has declared a state of emergency until the 2nd of February, and national authorities are providing help with emergency items for the most affected people.
  • For the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with localized thunderstorms is forecast across North Sulawesi Province.
