  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting the central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in particular the Maniema province, since 3 January, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 8 January, four fatalities and more than 2,000 damaged houses across the area of the Kindu city, central Maniema province.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over the central Democratic Republic of the Congo, including the already affected area.
