Heavy rainfall has been affecting the central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in particular the Maniema province, since 3 January, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
Media report, as of 8 January, four fatalities and more than 2,000 damaged houses across the area of the Kindu city, central Maniema province.
Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over the central Democratic Republic of the Congo, including the already affected area.
