  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds, tornadoes and thunderstorms affected a number of states across the southern USA and the Midwest region over the period from 19 to 22 April, causing floods, flash floods and several severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to tornadoes) that have resulted in casualties and damage. The affected states are Oklahoma (the worst affected), Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Illinois, and Iowa.
  • Media report, as of 23 April, five fatalities across Oklahoma, of whom two were in Cleveland county, two in Tulsa county, one more in Hughes county, mainly due to floods. Two injured persons, two destroyed houses, and ten damaged houses were also reported across the state. In addition, several houses have been damaged across Arkansas due to a number of tornadoes.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms are still forecast over most of the southern USA and most of the Midwest region.

  • Severe weather, including heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms, has affected the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast over the past days, causing fatalities and damage.
  • Media, as at 30 April, report that at least three people died in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 29, and 70,000 people were left without power across the region.
  • More heavy to very heavy rain, strong winds, and large hail are expected to hit the US East Coast over the next 48 hours, including Pittsburgh.
