  • On 3 July, heavy rainfall has been affecting the Amazon region, particularly Zamora Chinchipe province as well as the Sierra region in Ecuador, resulting in river overflows, floods and landslides, and causing fatalities and damage.
  • Media report that one person died and one has been injured in the Napo province, eastern Ecuador. Another person died in Zamora Chinchipe, southeastern Ecuador, and more than 200 homes have been destroyed. Road closures were also reported. The province of Zamora Chinchipe set up temporary accommodation.
  • Further, the Cantonal Emergency Operations Committee of Quijos canton, Napo province, declared a road emergency on 3 July.
  • On 8 July, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service () was activated to provide an estimation of the flood extent and for damage assessment.
  • Over the next 48 hours, additional rain is forecast across Ecuador, particularly over the eastern half of the country.
