  • The humanitarian impact continues to increase after the destructive landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, that occurred in East Marakwet, Elgeyo-Marakwet county, western Kenya, on 1 November.
  • According to media reports, 35 people died, 16 others are missing, and nine have been hospitalised. Additionally, flood events have affected Trans Nzoia county, western Kenya, where 6,318 people have been affected and 637 displaced.
  • Coordinated response involving national and local authorities, humanitarian actors and community volunteers is ongoing, focused on the provision of shelter and WASH in the newly established camps for the displaced families, as well food and non-food items.
  • On 6 November, Kenya requested assistance through the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) in the form of medical supplies and construction materials.
  • From 7-8 November, light to moderate rainfall is expected over the affected counties.
