  • Very heavy rainfall has been affecting the Java island (central Indonesia) since 28 January, causing floods, flash floods and overflowing rivers (in particular the Cilanang, Srenseng and Medana rivers) that have resulted in population displacement and damage. The most affected area includes the Greater Jakarta area and the Indramayu regency (West Java province).
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 3 February, nearly 1 700 displaced people, of whom a number are across 11 evacuation centres throughout the island. In addition, ADINet also reports a total of more than 20 600 affected people across the West Java, Central Java, East Java and Banten provinces and the Greater Jakarta area. Nearly 3 150 damaged houses were also reported.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over the whole Java island.
