  • From 1?–?2?May, the town of Uvira in South?Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, was hit by heavy rainfall and ensuing floods, causing fatalities, displacement and damage. 
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reported on 2?May that six people had died, four were missing, 414 had been displaced and a total of 79?000 were affected. Thirteen houses were completely destroyed, 56 were partially damaged and another 500 were flooded, while drinking-water sources were also affected. 
  • Over the next 48?hours, moderate to locally heavy rain is forecast for the northern and central parts of the country, including South?Kivu.
