  • A new tropical cyclone named HONE formed over the Pacific Ocean on 22 August and started moving west toward Hawaii, as a tropical storm. On 23 August at 6.00 UTC its centre was located approximately 1,200 km south-east of Hawaii's main island, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h.
  • HONE is forecast to continue moving westward over the ocean and to pass approximately 160 km south of Hawaii's main island on 25 August in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds of 111 km/h (tropical storm).
  • Heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over Hawaii's main island starting on 26 August. NOAA has issued a tropical storm watch over Hawaii.
