  • Tropical cyclone BEBINCA formed over the Pacific Ocean passed south of Guam on 10 September as a tropical storm and entered the Philippine Sea moving northwest.  On 12 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Philippine Sea, approximately 1,900 km east of the north-eastern coast of Luzon, northern Philippines with maximum sustained winds of 93 km/h (tropical storm).
  • BEBINCA is forecast to continue north-west, it could cross the central Ryukyu islands, southern Japan on 15 September and it could make landfall over the eastern coast of Zhejiang Province in eastern China on 15-16 September as a typhoon.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate rainfall is expected across Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

  • Tropical cyclone BEBINCA is moving north-west over the Philippines Sea, and on 13 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Philippine Sea, approximately 1,000 km south-east of the eastern coast of Amami island, Ryukyu Islands, southern Japan with maximum sustained winds of 74 km/h (tropical storm).
  • BEBINCA is forecast to continue north-west, crossing the central Ryukyu islands in southern Japan on 14 September, and it could make landfall over the eastern coast of eastern China between Zhejiang and Jiangsu province on 15-16 September as a typhoon.
  • On 13-16 September, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over most parts of the Ryukyu Islands (especially the central ones) and eastern coastal areas of China. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued yellow advisories for storm surge over the Ryukyu islands.

  • Tropical cyclone BEBINCA approached the eastern coast of the Shangai direct-administered municipality, eastern China as a tropical cyclone. On 16 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located inland across Hangzhou Bay with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h (tropical storm).
  • In China, more than 400,000 people have been evacuated across the Shangai direct-administered municipality area. Evacuations are also in effect across the neighbouring provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu. Furthermore, thousands of flights have been cancelled and widespread power outages have been reported.
  • Following its influence in the central-southern Philippines, in combination with south-western monsoon in the past few days, six people have died, two are still missing and 11 have been injured. More than 203,000 people have been affected in eight regions, almost 40,000 displaced and 97 houses damaged. 
  • BEBINCA is forecast to across Anhui and Henan provinces in eastern China, weakening and dissipating over the next two days.
  • For the next 48 hours, moderate to very heavy rainfall is expected across the Shangai area, Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan provinces.

  • Intense tropical cyclone activity is ongoing across the Philippine sea, South and West China Sea.
  • Typhoon BEBINCA made landfall in the Shanghai area on 16 September leading to evacuations, damage, and disruptions across the Shanghai direct-administered municipality area (eastern China). Its influence in the Philippines resulted also in ten fatalities and two missing people.
  • A tropical Storm, named PULASAN is moving northwest towards eastern China over the Philippine sea and it could make landfall over Zhejiang province on 19-20 September.
  • Furthermore, a tropical depression named GENER in the Philippines crossed the northern Philippines and according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) it could strengthen into a tropical storm and it could approach the coasts of Hainan (south-eastern China) and eastern Vietnam in the coming days.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate to locally very heavy rainfall is expected over northern Philipines. Red warnings for floods are in effect over the north-eastern and parts of eastern Philippines.
