  • Since 21 November, Cotopaxi volcano, located close to Latacunga city in Cotopaxi province (central Ecuador) about 50 km south of Quito, started a new volcanic activity, and the ash plume reached up to approximately 2 km above the summit of the crater.
  • According to the Geophysical Institute of Ecuador (IGEPN), on 26 November, a huge emission of gas and ash have been reported. The ash traveled north-northwest, more than 85 km from the source, and fall down across the sectors of El Pedregal, Tambillo, Guamaní, Amaguaña, Chillogallo, Quitumbe, Solanda, Lloa, Conocoto, Wholesale Market, Villaflora and Rumipamba.
  • As of 29 November, the activity is still ongoing.
