تمكن علماء رياضيات من جامعة "تشارلز الثالث" في مدريد الإسبانية من تحديد ألية نمو الشعيرات الدموية التي تغذي الأورام السرطانية عن طريق إظهار آلية النمو بطرائق رياضية. وأشار العلماء إلى أن تلك الأوعية الشعرية تتخذ خلال نموها باتجاه الأورام السرطانية شكل موجات التسونامي، وأنهم تمكنوا من وضع نموذج لآلية نمو تلك الشعيرات باستخدام المعادلات التفاضلية.
