PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (April 6, 1999 - Radio Australia/PIDP/CPIS)---A major earthquake, measuring between 6.9 and 7.4 on the Richter scale, struck Papua New Guinea Monday, but there were no reports of serious damage or injury. Officials placed the quake’s epicenter under New Britain island, about 150 miles north of the capital.
