Event. A magnitude-5.5 earthquake occurred southwest of the Yap Islands, Micronesia, at 1746 Feb. 26. The epicenter was about 118 km (73 miles) south-southwest of Colonia, Micronesia. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and moderate shaking was probably felt throughout the Yap Islands of Micronesia and in Palau .
