Typhoon Vamco , the third tropical storm that has hit Vietnam this year, weakened after bringing strong winds and heavy rain to central provinces on Monday evening. Strong winds and rain uprooted trees and billboards on many streets in Da Nang. A number of motorbikes and bicycle riders were also knocked down.

Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Jetstar Pacific have cancelled a total of 27 flights because the Vamco typhoon, the third typhoon this year, has entered the central parts of the country. VNA said it would not release any flights to or from the central city of Da Nang between 2pm and 5pm today to ensure the safety of its passengers.

Newly-formed typhoon Vamco , the third tropical storm to hit Vietnam this year, brought strong wind and heavy rains to the central city of Da Nang on Monday. Vamco originally took shape on the southeast waters of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands early Sunday night and was classified as a tropical depression.
