  • On 20 January, the Puracé volcano located in the Cauca Department, south-western Colombia increased its activity. The National Geological Service of Colombia registered intense seismic activity starting on 20 January at 4.06 UTC followed by ash emission in the atmosphere.
  • According to the same source, the dispersion of the ash moved westwards and the ashfall affected the towns of Puracé and Coconuco.
  • The alert level of the volcano stands at Yellow, which means that the volcano is active with changes in the base-level behaviour of monitored parameters and other manifestations.
