  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting the Bundaberg city area in south-eastern Queensland, north-eastern Australia, and the Katherine city in the Northern Territory of Australia since last week, leading to displacement and widespread damage.
  • Media report, as of 11 March, 197 sheltered people in one evacuation centre in the city of Bundaberg, and approximately 2 500 people affected by power outages, due to the overflow of the Burnett River. Two main bridges have been closed, isolating 10 000 people in the area, and hundreds of homes have been flooded.
  • Meanwhile, in Katherine city, in the Northern Territory, at least 700 people are still displaced, and some houses are still without electricity, due to the overflow of the Daly, Palumpa, Beswick and Jilkminggan Rivers.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast on north-western Queensland and the Northern Territory; major flood warnings are still in place for several rivers in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting south-eastern and northern Queensland and the north of the Northern Territory over the past week, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 12 March, two fatalities across the Gympie Region local government area (north of Brisbane city, the capital of the state, south-eastern Queensland). In addition, media also reports hundreds of still-evacuated people across northern Queensland and the neighbouring north of the Northern Territory.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall, with locally very heavy rainfall, is still forecast over northern Queensland and the north and centre of the Northern Territory.
