  • A new tropical cyclone named THREE formed over the eastern Indian Ocean - east of Christmas Island (Australia), south of Java Island - on 8 December and started moving south-east toward Western Australia. On 9 December at 0.00 UTC its centre was located offshore approximately 1,400 km north-west of the northwestern coast of Western Australia, with maximum sustained wind of 83 km/h (tropical storm).
  • THREE is forecast to continue south-east over the Ocean and it is expected to reach the eastern Pilbara, and western Kimberley regions (northwestern of Western Australia) on the evening (UTC) of 11 December, as a tropical storm.
  • Heavy rainfall is forecast over Pilbara, and Kimberley regions on 11-12 December.

  • Tropical cyclone THREE continued south-east over the eastern Indian Ocean toward Western Australia, as a tropical storm. On 10 December, its centre was located offshore approximately 1,000 km north-west of northern coast of Pilbara Region, with maximum sustained wind of 65 km/h (tropical storm).
  • THREE is forecast to continue south-east over the Ocean and it is expected to make landfall very close to Port Hedland Town (Pilbara, near to western Kimberley Region) on the morning (UTC) of 11 December, as a tropical storm.
  • Heavy rainfall and strong wind are forecast over Pilbara, and Kimberley on 11-12 December. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe weather and a flood warning over northern Pilbara and the adjacent western Kimberley.

  • Tropical cyclone THREE-20 made landfall in the early morning of 11 December over coastal central Pilbara Region (Western Australia), in an area between Port Hedland and Wickham City, with maximum sustained wind up to 75 km/h.
  • On 11 December at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located 30 km east of Wodgina mining settlement (eastern Pilbara Region), with maximum sustained wind of 65 km/h. Tropical cyclone THREE-20 is forecast to weaken as it moves further inland, dissipating in the late afternoon of 11 December.
  • Severe weather warnings for strong wind and heavy rainfall have been issused for northern and central Pilbara, south-western Kimberly, and western North Interior Regions. A major flood warning due to heavy rainfall has been issued for De Grey River (Pilbara Region).
