Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On April 15, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Amarsaikhan worked at the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics and gave an order to conduct studies in establishing new seismic stations designed for earthquake prediction and public warning in connection with the increasing earthquake activity in Mongolia.

A shallow magnitude 4.8 earthquake was reported after midnight near Turt, Khankh, Hövsgöl Aymag, Mongolia . According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit on Friday 16 April 2021 at 12:42 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km.
