- An earthquake of 6.4 M at a depth of 8.5 km occurred in the Java Sea, northern Java Island on 22 March at 8.52 UTC (at 15.52 local time). The epicentre was located 111 km north of Paciran sub-district, in Lamongan Regency in East Java Province.
- An aftershock with a magnitude of 5.4 M have been recorded in the area.
- USGS PAGER estimated that up to 2,000 people were exposed to severe shaking and up to 26,000 people to very strong shaking.
- According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) and the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), as of 25 March, two people have been injured, 33,535 people have been displaced in East Java Province and a total of 144,520 people have been affected. In addition, almost 4,679 houses and 183 public buildings have been damaged, the most affected is Gresik Regency.
- BNPB also reports weather-related events occurred on 24 March in West Java Province: one person died due to a landslide in Sentul Village, Bogor Regency, West Java Province and nine people are still missing due to a flash flood and a landslide in West Bandung Regency.
