GREEN alert: The Mayon Volcanic eruption may have a low humanitarian impact, based on the magnitude of the eruption, the exposed population and its coping capacity..
The Smithsonian/USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report provides information about global volcanism on a weekly basis. Latest Mayon report has been published on 15 Oct 2026 09:11. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported ongoing eruptive activity at Mayon during 7-14 October. The seismic network recorded 6-14 daily volcanic earthquakes. Sulfur dioxide emissions generally averaged 905-1,474 tonnes per day. Daily emissions rose 100-900 m above the crater and drifted WNW, WSW, and SW. Minor Strombolian activity at 0318 on 11 October generated an ash plume that rose 500 m above the summit and drifted WNW. The Alert Level remained at 2 (on a 0-5 scale) and the public was reminded to stay away from the 6-km-radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ). PHIVOLCS recommended that civil aviation authorities advise pilots to avoid flying close to the summit. Source: Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) See the detail here
