Sweden, February 2020The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) warned that heavy rainfall brought by consecutive storms Ciara (also known as Sabine) and Dennis caused rivers to rise in southwestern areas of the country. SMHI issued Class 2 level warnings for high river levels in western Gotaland, including the couties of Vastra Gotaland, Bohus, Jonkoping, Kronoberg, Halland and the city of Gothenburg (Goteborg). The Institute said levels of the Savean, Viskan, Atran and Nisslan rivers were particularly high, but small watercourses in Jonkopings and Vastra Gotaland could also present flood problems. Copernicus EMS was activated 18 February. As of 20 February, images showed 3,360.8 ha flooded in Sjuharad and Skaraborg. As of 20 February, local media had reported minimal impacts on local populations.Sat 15 Feb 2020Provided by Copernicus EMS GloFAS
