Tropical Storm Crising, Philippines, May 2021On 13 May 2021, Tropical Storm 03W (local name Crising), intensified from a tropical depression while moving west-northwestward towards Davao Oriental / Surigao del Sur area of the Philippines. Heavy rainfall, flooding and rain-induced landslides were predicted for areas in Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro / Compostela Valley, and Davao del Norte. As of 16 May, DROMIC reported 62,760 people were affected in 59 barangays in Regions IX (Zamboanga Sibugay) and XI (Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental). Around 9,000 people were evacuated to Evacuation Centres or with friends / family. 2 houses were destroyed and 96 damaged in Davao Oriental. DRMOCI did not specify if the damage was caused by flooding or strong winds.
