  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern Algeria, in particular the Bordj Bou Arreridj Province, and southern Algeria (Tamanrasset Province) over the past week, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The Algerian Civil Protection (DGPCDZ) and media report three fatalities, of which two across the Bou Arreridj Province and one in the Tamanrasset Province. In addition, one person was reported missing across Tamanrasset.
  • Over the next 24 hours, drier conditions are forecast over most of the country.
Algeria, Mid-August 2023Algerian Civil Protection reported flooding in Tamanrasset Province in southern Algeria on 16 to 17 August 2023. One person died and another was reported missing.
