  • Heavy rains have been affecting the municipality of San Cristobal de las Casas in the state of Chiapas, south-eastern Mexico, resulting in fatalities and significant property damage.
  • As at 27 May, according to media reports, one person has been confirmed killed by the floods. In addition, the storms have brought down trees, swept cars away, and caused power outages and infrastructure damage. In response to the emergency, the Mexican army, National Guard, and other relief units have been deployed to support the affected families.
  • Over the next 72 hours, moderate to heavy rain is forecast across several regions of Chiapas, including Soconusco, Istmo-Costa, and Altos Tsotsil Tseltal.
