  • On 9-10 December, very heavy rainfall affected the port city of Boma in the province of Kongo Central in the west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), causing flooding which resulted in fatalities and damage.
  • According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 16 December, two people have died, two are missing, 25 are injured and 3,600 are displaced due to the overflow of the Kalamu River, which also caused a bridge collapse. In addition, the same source reports a total of nearly 32,150 affected people across the area.
  • Over the next 96 hours, moderate rainfall is forecast over the already affected Kongo Central province.
