  • An earthquake of 7.0 M at a depth of 594 km, 6.9 M at a depth of 643 km for the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG),  occurred in the Java Sea close to northern Java Island. The epicentre was located offshore approximately 95 km north of the coastal City of Tuban (Tuban Regency, East Java Province). USGS PAGER estimates that around 44,600 people were exposed to weak shaking.
  • The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reports, as of 17 April, one fatality in the Marga Village (Tabanan Regency, in the nearby Bali Island). In addition, BNPB also reports four damaged houses across West Java and East Java Provinces.
