  • An earthquake of 5.6 M at a depth of 10.6 km occurred in the northwest of Jerez municipality, Jutiapa department, southeast Guatemala, on 29 July at 21:21 UTC (15:21 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 3 km northwest of Jerez municipality (bordering El Salvador), approximately 100 km southeast of the capital of Guatemala, Guatemala city, and 26 km northwest of Santa Ana in El Salvador.
  • USGS PAGER reports that up to 119,000 people were exposed to strong shaking.
  • According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 30 July, one person died due to the collapse of a building. Damage to infrastructure, including two health facilities, has also been reported.
