  • On 10 August at 16:53 UTC (19:53 local time), an earthquake of 6.1 M occurred in western Türkiye at a depth of 11 km. The epicentre was located 11 km southwest of the city of Bigadiç and 11 km northwest of the city of Sindirgi in Balikesir province. The quake was felt across central Balikesir and in nearby provinces, including Izmir, Kutahya, Yalova, Istanbul, Manisa, Usak, Aydin, Eskisehir, Sakarya, and Tekirdag.
  • Two aftershocks with a magnitude between 4.2 M and 4.1 M have been registered in the same area.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that 10,000 people were exposed to severe shaking, 36,000 to very strong shaking and up to 105,000 people were exposed to moderate shaking.
  • According to media, as of 11 August, one person was killed and 29 were injured. In the province's rural regions, 16 buildings had collapsed, 12 of which were abandoned. The earthquake was felt up to Istanbul which is 200 km away from the affected area.
