  • A 6.6 M earthquake at a depth of 25.4 km struck Simeulue island off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, on 27 November at 4:56 UTC (11:56 local time). The epicentre was located 45 km west-north-west of Sinabang town. One aftershock of 4.8 M at the depth of 19 km was recorded further south, 85 km W of Gunungsitoli, Nias island, closely after the main event.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 57,000 people were exposed to strong shaking, while 41,000 people were exposed to moderate shaking.
  • Media report no immediate casualties or damage; no tsunami warning has been issued.
