Typhoon Chanthu, Philippines, Taiwan, China, September 2021Typhoon Chanthu (known a Kiko in the Philippines) affected areas of Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, CAR in the Philippines from around 11 September. 5,049 people were pre-emptively evacuated in Region 2 and 63 in Region 1. A total of 11,145 people were affected. Heavy rain from the storm caused 44 incidents of flooding in Pampanga Province and 4 rain-triggered landslides in La Union Province, NDRRMC reported. Chanthu was downgraded to a category 3 storm as it moved over Taiwan 12 September, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. About 2,600 people living in landslide risk areas near Hualien have been evacuated. About 26,000 homes were without electricity. On 13 September media reported 330,000 people evacuated and schools, airports, and seaports were closed in Shanghai ahead of Typhoon Chanthu’s landfall.Tue 14 Sep 2021Provided by Copernicus EMS GloFAS
