Storms Usagi, Toraji and Man-yi, Philippines, November 2024The National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (NDRRMC) in the Philippines reported on the effects of storms Usagi, Toraji and Man-yi (known locally as Ofel, Nika, and Pepito) that swept over the country from 10 November 2024. As of 20 November, NDRRMC reported 290 incidents of flooding and 4 landslides. Storm surge caused coastal flooding and heavy rain triggered river flooding, flash flooding and landslides, notably in Ambaguio town, Nueva Vizcaya, where 7 people died. The worst of the flooding occurred in Tuguegarao city in Cagayan province, where the swelling the Cagayan river and tributaries forced the release of water from Magat Dam on 18 November. 3 million people were affected and almost 450,000 displaced. Almost 20,000 homes were damaged and over 3,00 destroyed.Wed 20 Nov 2024Provided by Copernicus EMS GloFAS
