  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting central-eastern Tanzania (in particular the Morogoro region) since the end of December 2025, causing floods and overflowing rivers that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 9 January, 1 320 people have been injured, around 1 500 have been evacuated in a number of temporary evacuation sites and a total of approximately 1 800 people have been affected across the Morogoro region, Kilosa district being the worst hit. The same source also reports destroyed and damaged houses across the affected area.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of the country, including the Morogoro region.
