  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern Malaysia (the Malaysian part of Borneo Island) since 21 February, causing floods, flash floods and overflowing rivers that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports, as of 23 February, more than 3,000 evacuated people, a part of whom are in a number of temporary evacuation centres across the Sabah and Sarawak states. The most affected districts are Pitas and Kota Marudu (Sabah state) and Kuching, Siburan and Padawan (Sarawak state).
  • Over the next 96 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over the whole of eastern Malaysia.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern Malaysia (the Malaysian part of Borneo Island) since 21 February, causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and media report, as of 27 February, nearly 4 000 people have been evacuated to 17 temporary evacuation centres across the Sabah state. The most affected districts are Tenom (the worst affected, with approximately 1 850 evacuated people in eight temporary evacuation centres), Beaufort, Membakut, Sook, Sipitang and Pitas. In addition, the media also reports a total of more than 5 000 affected people across 146 villages throughout the aforementioned affected districts.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over the whole of eastern Malaysia.
