Cyclone Gulab, India, Late September 2021As of 26 September, 22,468 people had evacuated costal areas of Odisha in preparation for the oncoming Cyclone Gulab. Evacuees were accommodated in 621 relief camps. The numbers displaced later increased to 46,075. In Andhra Pradesh, 3,940 people were evacuated and accommodated in 16 relief camps in Srikakulam district. Storm surge of 0.5 metres was expected. Some coastal flooding was reported in Srikakulam. As of 27 September flooding was reported in Visakhapatnam and Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, due to heavy rain. One fisherman was reported missing and another was injured at sea. On 27 September flooding was reported in parts of the state of Telangana with Nizamabad district worst affected. Government offices and educational institutions were closed on 28 September 2021.
