  • Over the past few days, heavy rainfall has been hitting parts of south-eastern Brazil, causing floods, triggering landslides and leading to casualties and damage.
  • According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and national authorities, two people died, and 47 others have been evacuated in Santa Catarina State. More than 1,500 people have been evacuated across the Espírito Santo State.
  • For the next three days, moderate to heavy rain is forecast mostly over the States of north-western, central and south-eastern Brazil.
  • Orange alerts for hydrological risk are in effect across parts of Minas Gerais, the whole Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro States. Orange alerts for geological risks have been issued in north-eastern Espírito Santo State.
