  • Very heavy rainfall and strong winds affected the central-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (in particular the Manième province) on 24 March, causing floods and overflowing rivers (mainly the Mikelengem, Kaponjo and Cano rivers) that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports, as of 31 March, more than 1 600 displaced people and a total of over 60 000 affected people across the Kindu city area (the capital of Manième province). In addition, the IFRC also reports some destroyed and damaged houses across the affected area.
  • Over the next 5 days, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over the already affected Manième province.
