  • Several wildfires have been affecting northern Manitoba province, in particular the Oxford House community, in central Canada, since 13 August, resulting in evacuations and damage.
  • According to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the burnt area is more than 9,240 ha in Oxford House.
  • As of 15 August, media reported that at least 2,500 people were evacuating from the First Nation community of Oxford House to Winnipeg, Brandon and Thompson cities. The wildfire is still out of control.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to GWIS, the fire danger forecast is expected to be from low to high in the affected areas.
