  • A new tropical cyclone named FINA formed between the Timor and the Arafura Sea on 18 November and started moving eastward. On 19 February at 6:00, its centre was located over the sea approximately 170 km south of Crocker Island and 400 km north-east of the coastal city of Darwin, in the Northern Territory in northern Australia, with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h (tropical cyclone).
  • FINA is expected to move southward to Australia on 20-21 November and to make landfall in the evening of 21 November in the area of Warruwi town on South Goulburn Island with maximum sustained winds up to 93 km/h (tropical storm).
  • Over the next 96 hours, heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over the coastal areas of the Northern Territory.

  • Tropical cyclone FINA is moving south over the Arafura Sea and on 20 November at 5:00 (UTC), its centre is located 80 km north-east of Darwin, Northern Territory and 160 km north-northeast of Minjilang, Northern Territory with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h with wind gusts up to 130 km/h.
  • FINA is expected to continue south on 20 November, before turning southwest on 21 November. It is forecast to approach the Cobourg Peninsula and Tiwi islands, northern Northern Territory late on 21 November, and continue southwest through the Van Diemen Gulf on 22 November.
  • For the next three days, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across the Northern Territory state, particularly over the Cobourg Peninsula and Tiwi islands. A tropical cyclone warning is in effect from Milikapiti to Maningrida, including the Cobourg Peninsula, Minjilang and Warruwi.

  • Tropical cyclone FINA is moving southwestword over the Arafura Sea, on 21 November at 5:00 (UTC), its centre is located 60 km north of Minjilang, and 270 km northeast of Darwin city in the Northern Territory with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h.
  • FINA is approaching the Cobourg Peninsula and Tiwi Islands and is forecast to make landfall in the night between 21 and 22 November, to continue southwest over the Van Diemen Gulf on 22 November, and move through the southern Timor Sea on 22-23 November.
  • According to media, as of 21 November, shelters are open in the northern coastal communities of Minjilang and Warruwi.
  • For the next three days, heavy rain and strong winds are expected over the coastal areas of the Northern Territory state. A tropical cyclone warning is in effect for the Tiwi Islands, Darwin, Cobourg Peninsula, Minjilang, Gunbalanya, Pirlangimpi, Milikapiti and Wurrumiyanga.
