  • On the 7 July, a wildfire broke out in the Paüls municipality, Baix Ebre comarca, northeastern part of Tarragona province, Catalonia, Spain, causing destruction and lockdowns.
  • According to the authorities, as of 9 July, the wildfire has already burned 3,200 ha and has been uncontained.
  • Media also report that 18,000 people were affected by stay-at-home orders on 8 July. Authorities have declared local confinement for Prat del Comte and Pinell de Brai.
  • As of 8 July, more than 460 firefighters were deployed together multiple aircraft and with an emergency military unit of 244 personnel.
  • On 8 July, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) was acivated in rapid mapping mode () to provide an estimation of the fire extent and monitoring.
  • Over the next 48 hours, according to the European Forest Fire Information System (JRC EFFIS), the fire danger forecast is expected to be from high to extreme for the affected area and larger Catalonia, northeastern Spain.
