  • Several wildfires have been burning across western, northern and eastern Greece since 8 August, causing injured people, population evacuation and widespread damage. The affected areas are Kefalonia island, Zakynthos island, Arta, Preveza, Vonitsa, Etoliko and Achaia across north-western and western Greece and the Peloponnese, the Thessaloniki area, and Chios island in the Aegean Sea.
  • The Greek Civil Protection (GCP) reports, as of 12 August, 54 evacuated people across the island of Chios and a number of evacuated people across most of the aforementioned affected places. In addition, the GCP also reports ten injured people in Achaia, four in Arta, four in Preveza and two injured on Chios island.
  • On 12 August, Greece requested assistance via the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) for a total of four firefighting airplanes to support the response efforts.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service, (EMS) was activated six times in rapid mapping mode since 8 August, with one activation for Attika (), four activations for western Greece (, , and ) and one for the Chios island ().
  • Over the next 48 hours, according to the JRC European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire danger forecast is expected to be from very high to very extreme across western Greece and high in the Thessaloniki area and on the island of Chios.
