Tropical Depression, Sri Lanka and Southern India, Early February 2023A depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal sea area brought severe weather to parts of Sri Lanka in early February. Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported 2 people injured, 578 people affected and 157 homes damaged, as of 03 February 2023. Much of the damage was a result of strong winds. Some heavy rain combined with strong winds affected 56 residents in Mulaitivu and 194 residents in Polonnaruwa. Further heavy rain was forecast.
