Samoa, Early June 2023Flooding affected parts of Savai’i Island, Samoa, after a heavy downpour on 08 June 2023. Media reported damage to homes, roads and bridges. Power outages, disruption to ferry services and school closures were also reported. On 08 June the Samoa Meteorological Division said, "An active convergence zone remains within the vicinity of the group. The system has eventuated heavy rainfall with numerous flooding over the interior and coastal parts of Savai’i Island. Observations indicated a maximum of more than 300 mm recorded from Vai’a’ata since midnight last night."Thu 8 Jun 2023Provided by Copernicus EMS GloFAS
