  • Since 14 May, the southern and western regions of Mindanao island, Eastern Visayas region, and Palawan province in Mimaropa region have been experiencing severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds, due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). These conditions have resulted in flooding and flash flooding, leading to displacement and damage.
  • As of 26 May, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD DROMIC) reported that 11,453 individuals have been displaced, with 4,836 seeking shelter in 13 evacuation centres. A total of 176,962 people have been affected by the flooding.
  • Over the next 48 hours, forecasts indicate that the affected areas will continue to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, prompting flood warnings for two locations in Mindanao.

  • The number of affected and displaced people continues to rise in the southern Philippines due to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds associated to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
  • According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD DROMIC), as of 28 May, a total of 272,125 people have been affected across six regions: Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Additionally, 12,949 people remain displaced in the regions of Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM.
  • Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected across parts of the affected areas.

  • Since 14 May, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) have been affecting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, in the southwestern part of the island of Mindanao, southern Philippines causing floods that have resulted in people displacement and damage.
  • According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as of 21 May, a total of 233,945 people have been affected in Maguindanao del Sur (BARMM) province, including 6,115 inside eight evacuation centres. In addition, three houses have been damaged, one bridge and four roads have been blocked by flooding in the same area.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecasted over the southern Philippines, and red and orange flood warnings have been issued.
