  • Severe flooding and flash flooding due to heavy rains have been affecting the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales, on Australia's southeast coast, over the past few days, resulting in loss of life, evacuations, and significant damage.
  • As of 22 May, media reports confirm two fatalities, with three people missing, and over 500 individuals rescued. Rescue operations are ongoing, with 14 evacuation centres established across the state to provide support. The floods have also caused power outages, and the town of Cundletown, Mid North Coast, has been completely isolated by floodwaters.
  • The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology has issued severe weather warnings for heavy rain and flooding across New South Wales. On 22 May, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue over central and eastern parts of the state, while 23 May is forecast to bring lighter, but still moderate, rainfall to the east coast.

  • A prolonged period of heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding and flash flooding in New South Wales, situated on Australia's southeast coast, resulting in loss of life, evacuations, and substantial damage.
  • As of 23 May, media reports have confirmed four fatalities, with one person still missing, and 678 individuals saved from the floodwaters, including 177 in the past 24 hours. Rescue operations are ongoing. The flooding has also affected around 50,000 people who were left isolated, with 15 evacuation centres currently open to provide support and shelter. Several roads and rail lines have been affected.
  • The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology has extended its severe weather warnings for the region, cautioning of continued heavy rain and flooding across New South Wales. 23 May is expected to bring somewhat lighter, yet still moderate, rainfall to central New South Wales, accompanied by isolated heavy downpours in coastal areas. On 24 May, light rain is predicted only for the southeast of the affected state.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting the New South Wales (south-eastern Australia) since 19 May, causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in more casualties and widespread damage.
  • The IFRC reports, as of 27 May, five fatalities, one still missing person, approximately 700 displaced people, 765 rescued people and a total of around 50,000 affected people across the Hunter Valley, the Central Coast, and Mid-North Coast regions, where the worst affected towns are Taree, Wingham, and Glenthorne. In addition, the same source also reports more than 10,000 damaged houses throughout the affected area.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), more heavy rainfall is still forecast over eastern New South Wales state.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting New South Wales state, in south-eastern Australia, in the last few days, causing floods and severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in evacuation orders and damage.
  • As of 20 May, media reports one injured person in Umina Beach in the Central Coast region, 60 displaced people in Taree city, and evacuation orders for Taree, Coopernook, Bulahdelah, Mid North Coast region due to the rising waters of the Manning River, and Dumaresq Island, Northern Tablelands region. Six evacuation centres have been set up across New South Wales, and 60 schools have been closed.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecast over eastern New South Wales.
