Colombia - Landslides
  • Heavy rain, resulting in river overflows and landslides, has affected Medellín, particularly the city of Bello, a suburb of Medellín, in the Antioquia Department of northwest Colombia, over the past few days, causing deaths and damage.
  • As of 25 June, media reports indicate at least 11 fatalities, 15 missing people, 15 injured, and over 1,500 people sheltered after a landslide struck Bello in the early morning of 25 June. Several homes were destroyed.
  • Search and rescue operations are ongoing as at 26 June, with additional evacuation orders issued for Villatina, a suburb of Medellín and 60 homes in Medellín itself, next to previous evacuation orders for the Bello municipality.
  • Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain is forecast for northwest Colombia, while central and southeastern regions of the country are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
